Making a bequest leaves a legacy for future generations committed to climate justice.

A bequest is a gift from your estate—a transfer of cash, securities, or other property—made through your estate plans. A bequest costs nothing now and enables you to contribute to 350 Deschutes far into the future.

Remembering 350 Deschutes  with a bequest from your estate will help sustain and strengthen the organization in years to come. Some of the advantages of creating a bequest include:

  • A bequest costs nothing now yet gives you the satisfaction of knowing you have provided for 350 Deschutes in the future.
  • You retain control of and use of your assets during your lifetime.
  • You’re always able to modify your bequest if your circumstances change.
  • Gifts to 350 Deschutes from your estate are exempt from federal estate taxes.
  • If you let us know of your plans, we will be able to thank you now and recognize you. [If you prefer to remain anonymous we will keep your name and gift in confidence].

Sample Bequest Language for an Unrestricted* Gift

For an unrestricted gift that allows 350 Deschutes to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, please feel free to use the following language for your will and/or trust:

“I give (if a Will) or The Trustee shall distribute (if a Living Trust) the sum of $_____________; or the following property: _________________; or ________ percent of my estate [or trust estate, if a Living Trust]; or the residue of my estate [or trust estate] to 350 Deschutes (“Organization”) The gift is to be used to benefit the Organization however it’s needed most.”

If you have named 350 Deschutes in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will enable us to plan for the use of your future gift. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in confidence.

Please contact us to discuss your legacy plans or for more information.
