Clean Energy Education Coordinator
Want to be a changemaker? 350 Deschutes is a growing nonprofit whose mission is to develop policy, education, and actions that support a JUST Clean Energy Transition.
We seek a part time contractor to help with education at high schools and colleges, and work with businesses and families.
Although a knowledge of clean energy and its applications in communities is preferred, we will train.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Experience and comfort in working with diverse audiences, particularly Native and/or Hispanic communities.
- Personable, outgoing with comfort doing outreach to businesses and teachers.
- Organizational and time management skills, working with people and timelines to ensure completion
- Some bilingual skills. Native English, but also Spanish speaker, or mid-level command of Spanish is highly desired, but not required
- Comfort talking and/or presenting information to small groups of adults and youth.
Education or experience
- A minimum of a two-year degree or technical school.
- Experience desired (Volunteerism counts)
- Working with youth in any capacity, but education, organizing, environment is preferred.
Other requirements:
- Must have drivers license and be able to drive. Live in Central Oregon. A background check is required. (paid by 350 Deschutes)
- Ability and personality to work as a team member.
Compensation is dependent on experience and education
Range: $22 to $25 hourly. Initial work will begin in March 2023 and will be about 500 hours over a 6-month period. Possibility of additional work.
Position will remain open until a person is found.
Job tasks:
- To help 350 Deschutes work in schools and communities of color at three schools in Central Oregon. Arrange for education, listening sessions.
- To secure incentives and prizes for participants
- To market programs via social media, or flyers to schools and parents
- As a team member, to assist teachers in coordinating educational requirements (clean energy education) for youth and help with annual Go Clean Energy Conference.
