Clean Energy Education Coordinator

Want to be a changemaker? 350 Deschutes is a growing nonprofit whose mission is to develop policy, education, and actions that support a JUST Clean Energy Transition.

We seek a part time contractor to help with education at high schools and colleges, and work with businesses and families.

Although a knowledge of clean energy and its applications in communities is preferred, we will train.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  1. Experience and comfort in working with diverse audiences, particularly Native and/or Hispanic communities.
  2. Personable, outgoing with comfort doing outreach to businesses and teachers.
  3. Organizational and time management skills, working with people and timelines to ensure completion
  4. Some bilingual skills. Native English, but also Spanish speaker, or mid-level command of Spanish is highly desired, but not required
  5. Comfort talking and/or presenting information to small groups of adults and youth.

Education or experience

  1. A minimum of a two-year degree or technical school.
  2. Experience desired (Volunteerism counts)
  3. Working with youth in any capacity, but education, organizing, environment is preferred.

Other requirements:

  1. Must have drivers license and be able to drive. Live in Central Oregon. A background check is required. (paid by 350 Deschutes)
  2. Ability and personality to work as a team member.

Compensation is dependent on experience and education

Range: $22 to $25 hourly. Initial work will begin in March 2023 and will be about 500 hours over a 6-month period. Possibility of additional work.

Position will remain open until a person is found.

Job tasks:

  1. To help 350 Deschutes work in schools and communities of color at three schools in Central Oregon. Arrange for education, listening sessions.
  2. To secure incentives and prizes for participants
  3. To market programs via social media, or flyers to schools and parents
  4. As a team member, to assist teachers in coordinating educational requirements (clean energy education) for youth and help with annual Go Clean Energy Conference.
